Laura Godly began working with Milberg in November of 2021 as an Associate after moving to Carrboro, North Carolina. As part of the firm’s class action division, Ms. Godly has a passion for working on cases that will have a widespread impact, helping ground-level individuals face big corporate giants. After learning about the firm and meeting attorneys from the Raleigh and Charleston offices, she knew she wanted to join the incredible, motivated team.

Before beginning her legal career, Ms. Godly maximized her opportunities in law school: working as Articles Editor of the Buffalo Law Review, becoming a Writing Fellow for Legal Analysis, Research, and Writing, and serving as a research assistant for Professor Luis Chiesa. She was also a member of the Desmond Moot Court team, being awarded Runner Up for Best Oral Advocate in the Constitutional Law category. Outside the typical semester schedule, she worked as a summer intern for the Environmental Crimes Section of the Department of Justice, Environment, and Natural Resources Division.

Following her 2018 graduation from the University at Buffalo School of Law, Ms. Godly served as a clerk for the New York State Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Fourth Department in Rochester, New York. In addition, she provided pro-bono representation to tenants facing eviction through the Volunteer Legal Services Project of Monroe County. Throughout the 2020-2021 school year, she taught Legal Research and Writing and Legal Analysis for the Bar at Willamette University College of Law in Salem, Oregon.

Outside the office, you can find Ms. Godly cycling, reading, playing board games, and exploring North Carolina.
