Luis Almeida is a Senior Associate with Milberg’s State & Local Government and Environmental & Toxic Torts Litigation practice groups, serving as attorney and notary public for the firm’s Puerto Rico office location.
His work involves the National Prescription Opiate Litigation and the Puerto Rico municipalities’ climate change litigation and ethylene oxide (EtO) emissions cases.
Mr. Almeida graduated from the University of Puerto Rico with a bachelor’s degree in forensic psychology and obtained his J.D. from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico, School of Law with a minor in corporate & commercial law, where he was conferred the award for academic excellence in notarial law and mortgage law.
During his time in law school, Mr. Almeida served as Councilor in the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico Council and was a member of the Student Elections Committee. Mr. Almeida also served as a Teaching Assistant for the courses of Evidence, Property Law, and Advanced Property Law: Patents and Trademarks. Mr. Almeida participated in the revision of the second edition of the book “Theory and Practice of Litigation in Puerto Rico.”
Prior to joining Milberg, Mr. Almeida specialized in intellectual property prosecution and litigation, focusing on the fields of copyright and trademark law as well as trade secrets.
He is a member in good standing of the Puerto Rico State Bar and the United States District Court for the District of Puerto Rico.
