Associate Attorney – Mass Torts

Position Overview

We are looking for a Mass Tort Associate who has directly handled clients and case files, ideally within fast-moving and high-volume litigation environments. This role requires excellent organization, attention to detail, strong judgment, and the ability to drive matters forward proactively without constant supervision. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives under deadlines and can confidently interface with clients, colleagues, and opposing counsel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and support mass tort litigation matters from intake through resolution
  • Handle high-volume client communications sensitively, efficiently, and professionally
  • Maintain, track, and organize case files, medical records, discovery materials, deadlines, and workflows
  • Draft pleadings, briefs, motions, settlement summaries, and other written work product
  • Conduct legal research and apply relevant state/federal procedural and substantive law
  • Work collaboratively with partners, paralegals, medical review teams, and support departments
  • Prepare cases for hearings, mediation, settlement, or trial as needed
  • Proactively move files and client cases forward with minimal oversight

Qualifications

  • JD from an accredited law school (BAR)
  • Experience in mass torts litigation is preferred, including in sexual abuse cases.
  • Strong client-facing communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and writing ability
  • Demonstrated capacity to independently manage deadlines & caseloads
  • Proactive, resourceful, and capable of driving tasks to completion

Professional communication skills, both written and verbal

Previous law firm experience and some bookkeeping experience are a plus, but not required

Role Overview

We are seeking an operations manager to lead high‑volume client verification and data diligence efforts across complex matters. This role sits at the intersection of data operations, client eligibility verification, and legal process support. The ideal candidate is highly detail‑oriented, analytically strong, and comfortable managing large datasets, proof review workflows, and reconciliation processes under tight deadlines.

 

Key Responsibilities

Client Verification & Eligibility

  • Lead large‑scale client verification exercises, including review of documentation, proof submissions, and eligibility criteria
  • Design and manage workflows for verifying client accounts, transactions, usage, or other claim‑related data
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies between internal records, client submissions, and third‑party data productions
  • Escalate edge cases and ambiguous verification issues to legal teams with clear analysis and recommendations

Data Operations & Reconciliation

  • Manage, clean, and reconcile large datasets (often thousands of records) across multiple sources
  • Perform quality control checks to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and completeness
  • Track verified, unverified, and exception populations and clearly document verification status
  • Prepare clean, defensible datasets for mediations, productions, or internal decision‑making

Process Design & Improvement

  • Build and refine repeatable verification and review processes that scale efficiently
  • Create documentation, trackers, and internal guidelines to ensure consistency across matters
  • Partner with attorneys, paralegals, client care teams, and technical staff to streamline workflows
  • Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort and improve accuracy through better process design

Reporting & Communication

  • Provide clear summaries and status updates to legal and operations leadership
  • Translate complex data findings into practical, plain‑language explanations
  • Support internal and external stakeholders by answering data and verification‑related questions
  • Maintain detailed audit trails for verification decisions and data changes

 

Qualifications

Required

  • 5+ years of experience in data operations, verification, compliance, litigation support, or a similar role
  • Proven experience handling large datasets and high‑volume review processes
  • Strong Excel or spreadsheet skills (filters, lookups, reconciliation, data validation)
  • Exceptional attention to detail and comfort working with sensitive or confidential information
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines and shifting priorities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred

  • Experience in legal services, litigation support, compliance, fintech, or regulated environments
  • Familiarity with client intake, eligibility verification, or KYC‑style review processes
  • Experience working with CRM or case management systems
  • Comfort collaborating with technical teams on data questions
  • Experience designing or improving operational workflows

Summer Associate Program

Milberg integrates its Summer Associates into all aspects of the firm and its culture, providing them with the tools and opportunities they need to grow as successful attorneys. Summer Associates learn and gain firsthand experience working with attorneys in all offices across all practice areas. Summer Associates are entrusted with meaningful, high-stakes projects, such as drafting complex complaints, memoranda of law, case reports, and settlement papers, and participating in and preparing clients for depositions, hearings, mediation, and arbitration proceedings.

We accept 1L and 2L law students. Candidates must have strong academic credentials, excellent written and oral communication skills, and be highly motivated.
